Integration of Human Performance (HP) in planning, designing and implementation of systems and processes is fundamental to aviation and its stakeholders; ICAO has dedicated a document to this.  This Manual complements the earlier Doc. 9683 and Doc.9824 dealing with human factor in training and aircraft maintenance.  The new manual clearly establishes an understanding on Human Performance from the point of view of regulators and established five key HP Principles. While a Snap Shot of the Table of Contents will clear the structure of the manual the 5HP Ps, five human performance principles are as follows –

  1. HP is shaped by individual’s capabilities and limitations.
  2. HP is influenced by the interpretations that an individual makes.
  3. HP can adapt to the complex and dynamic work environment.
  4. HP comes out of risk assessment and trade-offs made by an individual.
  5. HP is influenced by working with other people, technology and the environment.
