India plans 4 airports and 37 helipads for boosting Ladakh connectivity.

The new airports will be capable of handling wide bodied aircraft and helipads will enable use of Chinook heavy lift helicopters
Land for the airports has already been identified and three will come up at the following places:-
– Second airport at Leh with direct link to Zanskar valley.
– Another near Changtang that links to the hot spot Pangang Tso.
– Alternate larger airfield in Kargil.
Bulk of the newly planned 37 helipads are expected to be operational during the current year.
Never before has such huge infrastructure for aircraft and choppers been constructed in the midst of ongoing border tensions with China.
